Mixed Media for Kids

This is an introductory class in mixed media for kids interested in combining materials. We will use paints, pastels, markers, ink pens, watercolors, and colored pencils in all different combinations of your choosing. The instructor will help you to learn more about these drawing and painting tools and how to be better able to combine them into interesting works of art. Students will have fun finding and collecting "found objects" around the grounds of the Arts Center and then doing drawings of them. These natural objects may also be incorporated into their projects. Realistic drawing and painting techniques will be taught, and the kids will also have the opportunity to experiment and "play" with the material and techniques they have learned. Mixed media can make for fascinating visual and "touchable" personal works by student artists.
